Review/Giveaway The Big A$$ Book of Crafts 2

This giveaway has ended. Be sure to check out the winning post announcement.

First things first—we have a winner of the CommandMAX fine finish sprayer
command max giveaway #2 random.org

command max giveaway #2 winner

Congrats to The Thriving Thrifter.  Now how about another giveaway?

Do you know Mark Montano?
Mark Montano

From Mark’s profile page:
I am a Designer, Author, TV Host. I sleep with a loaded glue gun and I'm not afraid to pull out my crayons in public. I'm usually up in the sky on the way to a crafty gig. My favorite saying is "Get your hands dirty and turn the mundane into the insane!" Come join me on a creative journey and make sure to bring the mixers!
I follow Mark’s blog, I also follow him on twitter, and on facebook!  Oh my I sound like a stalker!  Mark tweeted me recently and offered to send me his newest book to review, and even offered one up for one of my readers!

From the back of the book:
In this cheeky sequel, Mark Montano picks up where his wildly popular The Big-Ass Book of Crafts left off, with even more spectacular—and easy-to-make—projects sure to satisfy crafters of all skill levels. Turn colorful ribbons into a show—stopping scarf  .   .   .  transform old cargo pants into a kick-ass carryall  .   .   .  a high—drama neckpiece made out of zippers? Absolutely.  Along with a host of other wearable wonders, this exciting all—new volume includes sections such as Pillow Talk (fun, comfy, and made from the most surprising materials), Letter Perfect (cool designs to pop into the mailbox nearest you), Hey, I Could Use That (make a big statement with little things from magnets to nail polish), Just Kid—ding (cheery décor made from kid-centric stuff, guaranteed to make you smile!), That’s Shoe Biz (fun fixes that give sidelined footwear and handbags a whole new life), and dozens of other ideas that are inventive, imaginative, and just plain fun.
With his trademark humor and no-holds-barred approach to crafting, Mark will have you tapping into your creative soul and taking simple techniques to a whole new level in no time. We’re not talking plant hangers and pot holders here—there more than 150 handmade projects in this truly unique compendium are artistic, eye-catching, and cutting-edge, from cool brooches and earrings to ingenious belts and bags, from Bauhaus-style furniture to fishbowl lanterns, and so much more!

This book is so full of ideas!  Crafts of all kinds, repurposed  items from A-Z literally!  Alphabet letters to zippers and zip ties!  You all know how I love a great repurpose! Mark’s book contains so many craft items, most of them easy enough for you to do with the kiddos!
  • cardboard
  • magazines
  • clothes
  • clothes hangers
  • doll heads
  • eyeglass cases
  • suitcases
  • wiffle balls
and countless other items you already have laying around your house!
Mark shows several ways to update your old shoes!  Can’t you just see me sporting these shoes in the shop?  heheheh

Giveaway starts today and ends Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 8:00 PM EST. Winner will be chosen via Random.org from eligible entries.
How to enter:
  • Leave a comment below telling me what you have laying around your house that you have been saving to repurpose into something else.
  • Leave a comment below telling me “I follow Mark’s blog
  • Leave a comment below telling me “I follow Mark on twitter
  • Leave a comment below telling me “I like Mark’s Facebook page
  • Leave a comment below telling me “I like Mark’s Big A$$ Book of Crafts 2 on Amazon
  • Leave a comment below telling me “I follow or subscribe to My Repurposed Life”

You can do any or all of the above.  Many times on my giveaways people will combine two comments in one.  They will say things like “I have some blue jeans I want to repurpose, oh yeah, I follow your blog”  Doing a comment like that gives you only ONE chance to win. You must leave a separate comment for each entry. My comments are numbered and I use Random.org to choose a winner based on the number of your comment. Don’t cheat yourself out of an entry.   Smile

Good luck!  If you have a wish list for the holidays, or you know someone who LOVES to craft with unusual items on the cheap, pick up this book as a gift for yourself, or someone special!

I am a religious follower of Gail's My Repurposed life. Because of Gail I look at things now for not only what they are but for what they could be. She also gives me encouragement and confidence to try new power tools. That parts irks my hubby as they are his toys but alas we teach our children to share right? Speaking of sharing I have a box of Fudge cream Oreos I must go hide asap. : )

oOoOhhh! Count me in! Our house came with two slabs of marble outside (slippery walk way - what were they thinking?). Anyway, we've been saving and planning our kitchen island and will be having a fabricator clean up, polish, cut, seal and install the marble for an island top. Now...just trying to find the courage to build an island.
