Martha Stewart Helps me Repurpose Some Stuff

Yesterday I showed you all the goodies I received from Plaid Crafts and Martha Stewart.  Are you ready to see some projects I’ve worked on? Of course several of them are repurposed, and of course I had to do a sign!

Menu-Take it or Leave it

What you need:

Something to paint

Jonquil (Yellow)

Heavy Cream (Martha’s Sample Paint)

Chalkboard paint

Medium brush for patterning (checkerboard/gingham)

1 1/2 inch utility brush for basecoating

Vinyl Phrase

Look at these awesome specialty brushes! (I used the one on the far right for this project)

I dug this little memo board out of the shed.

I gave it a fresh coat of Martha’s Jonquil. I used the 1 1/2 inch utility brush. These brushes are really nice (high quality).

 

I got a little excited with the next step and forgot to take any “in progress” pictures. I used some of Martha’s sample paint in Heavy Cream to do a small checkerboard or gingham pattern on the frame of the memo board and the little “mocha” square piece. I painted on the back side of the square piece.

 

 

After the paint dried, I cut out the vinyl phrase with my Silhouette and applied it to the small square.

 

 

I love this pattern!  It was so easy and quick to do with Martha’s new brushes!

Jack-O-Lanterns

Some kind of bottles (I used old spice bottles)

Carrot & Mint Paints

Scrap vinyl for features (or you could just paint on the features)

I used Martha’s (yeah, we’re sort of on a first named basis now) Carrot to paint the inside of this spice bottle.  This line of paint is for all surfaces-wood, metal, ceramic, terra cotta, fabric AND glass!  I squirted a small amount into the bottle then I just tapped it all around until the entire inside was covered. I turned it upside down for a few hours to let the excess drain out.

 

I squirted some Mint into the lid of the bottle, then I used some scrap vinyl pieces to cut out (by hand) some shapes for my Jack-O-Lantern’s face.

Our House May Be Small (sign)

Habenera (red)

Roller applicator

Vinyl lettering (or stencils)

Saw tooth hanger (for hanging)

There are so many great tools in this Martha Stewart line. Check out this great little rolling sponge! It screws directly onto the bottle of Habenera.

I love painting my boards with sponges. Rolling with a sponge is even better!

Pretty cool, eh?

Look how great it does the sides of my board.

The paint covered really well, and the roller comes apart for easy cleaning.  I LOVE how the roller and the sponge tips and writing tips (see above)  attach right to these small bottles.  I used my Silhouette to do the lettering.
