Temporary Tattoos Silhouette June Promotion

Oh Silhouette, how I love thee, let me count the ways!    The Silhouette is my favorite  tool!  Well, let’s say it’s my favorite indoor tool! I have so much fun making things using it.   This month’s promotion is temporary tattoos.  Years ago, jamie and I were going to get tattoos together, but it never panned out, so she got one a few years ago without me. (it’s the teeniest cross on the inside of her wrist)  The guy didn’t even charge her for it because it’s so small.  Smile

Okay, on with my post—temporary tattoos!  It amazes me that the Silhouette SD can cut out an image that you print out on YOUR printer!

I did my layout in the Silhouette program. I filled up the entire sheet so that I wouldn’t have much waste.  Look to the right and you can see the settings.

  • Silhouette Temporary Tattoo Sheet
  • pink cap
  • double cut
  • speed 3
  • thickness 25

reg marks

The way the Silhouette is able to cut out something you printed on your printer is with “registration marks”.  On my first sheet, I forgot to “show registration marks” so they didn’t print.

You send it to print right through the Silhouette program, easy peasy!  (use the photo settings on your printer, glossy paper) Make sure you print on the glossy side of the white paper.

After the ink dries, you apply the adhesive sheet to the top of your printed page. In this picture I have them laying side by side so you can see which sheet is which.  Do you see the registration marks?

Peel off the little strip from the adhesive paper, then line up the two sheets. After you get them lined up, press down on the little strip, then raise the adhesive paper so you can remove the backing and apply the adhesive paper to the printed paper.

Pull the adhesive paper backing allowing it to stick to the printed paper.

Smooth it down with your scraper tool, or in my case, my aaa card.

Put that onto your carrier sheet, and load it into your machine for cutting.

It is so cool to watch your Silhouette SD “find” the images!

Silhouette tattoos (7)

Gently peel the tattoos off of the carrier sheet.

Choose a tattoo to use.  Remove the shiny paper, this allows the tattoo to be a little sticky.  Apply the tattoo, holding a wet rag over the tattoo for 15-20 seconds until the paper easily slides off.

Find an oh so cute neighbor’s kid to test out your new tattoo!   Here is “J” sporting his new tatt!

Look at that face! He’s sure going to be fighting the ladies off in a few years, don’t ya think?   You know I’ll always be honest with you, right?  I have never applied a temporary tattoo before so I used my “oops” sheet of tattoos, the one I forgot to put the registration marks on—I cut this pirate ship out with my scissors as a “test” tattoo.  When I applied it on this sweaty sticky tot, I messed up one of the flags. I felt it went pretty good since I had never done it before. Had I been wearing my glasses, I don’t think it would have happened at all.

Ya’ll know I opened a booth, right?  I signed the papers and then started moving stuff in within a couple of hours. I needed some price tags. Did I buy them or order them?  Nope! I quickly went to the Silhouette online store and purchased an image for a mere .99 cents and voila, I was in business. I made several sheets of the smaller tags, and then decided to do some larger tags for “big ticket” items!  hahaha get it?

I vote none of the above. Now if you could find a fleur-di-lis image I say it would be the perfect tatt for you, just above your ankle. :)
Otherwise, a drill or saw on your forearms (maybe both) then go to Home Depot and see what kind of reactions you get! lol

I had no idea there was so much you could do with this amazing machine. How fun! Your little neighbor looks so very proud of himself.

I love your blog! Follow it all the time. I'm looking for a big discussion on m blog - I hope you'll take a moment to visit mine and weigh in on my anti- temporary tattoo editorial. I'd love to get your opinion.

Love all the things the Sihlouette can do! I agree with Rose, none of the above. You definitely need a powertool of some sort!

I have a tattoo just above the outside of my right ankle. It is one I designed myself, a hummingbird and a dragonfly. Hummingbirds and dragonflies just seem to "capture" me. Like I told my daughter, "If you get a tat make sure it's some place where you can cover it up if you need to." I would recommend a tat being something that really "grabs" you... it's permanent... you will need to like it for a loooooong time!

The husband bought me a Silhouette for Christmas last year and I have yet to use it to it's full potential. It is an amazing machine though!
I would most likely choose one of the more girly tatts, like the butterfly or one of the flowers.
Your little neighbor seems quite pleased with his. Next thing you know, all the neighborhood kids will be knocking at your door looking for some summer ink!
