Heat Transfer from Silhouette (butterflies)

I seriously LOVE my Silhouette!  Sometimes when I see a project online, I have to resist the temptation to do a project at THAT very moment.  Today’s project is a really easy and VERY inexpensive.

These girls’ sweat pants are out of season, so the price was unbelievable! They were marked $1.74, but actually rang up for ONE dollar!

I got busy choosing a design. This butterfly is a design that comes with your silhouette software.   The flourish is a design I purchased online for .99 cents.  That is one of my favorite features of the Silhouette. No expensive cartridges to buy.  You only buy what you want when you want it.  You don’t need to think ahead or go to the store.  I wanted to use the butterflies on the sweat pants, but I like to use every bit of my heat transfer, so I went on and cut out the flourish for a later date.

The directions are right on the box of heat transfer. The Silhouette has one blade, but three different color “caps” that easily screw on and off.  This smooth heat transfer called for the blue cap.

Here you can see that I cut the images out and then trimmed the heat transfer to size. I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures. It was a very gloomy day, with no natural light coming in the window.  The heat transfer is laying on my much used lap desk.

I removed the negative around the images and the small pieces inside of the flourish. In this picture, I had not removed the inside of the butterflies.

These transfers are now ready to iron on.

I cut out the butterflies individually and placed them in a random pattern. I actually ironed them on all at one time.  The directions say to use a cloth, but I found that with my iron, they didn’t transfer very well that way.  To protect your project and your iron, I suggest you follow the directions on the package.

I love the way this color shows up on the black.

Aren’t they so cute?

Don’t you wish you had a Silhouette of your very own?  I sure wish you did!  Because I know you would LOVE it as much as I do.

Yeah! This is my Mother's Day gift! My hubby almost bought me the one with rhinestones but I stopped him. I knew something better (the rhinestones would be great if I had daughters, but I have three sons) would come along. Thanks!
BTW, the price is $229.

Cute sweat pants! Those would be great for my girls to wear over their leotards and tights to ballet in the winter. Love the butterfly shape and the fact that you rearranged the design.

Thanks so much for joining my "Crafty Cutter" party. Hope you'll stop by Serenity Now again soon. :)

Cute! I used to use iron on transfers for my kids clothes when they were little, but if I had been able to make them myself, I could have saved a lot of money.
