Chalkboard from an Armoire Door

I had the opportunity to curb and entire armoire, but it was TOO big.  I settled for a couple of doors and shelves instead.  This is one of the doors:

I sanded (using leaf blower to remove bulk of dust)

I painted the outer edge with the blue I used on my kitchen floor.

I used the gray (from the kitchen floor) on the inset.

I love Scotch Blue painter’s tape.

I like to use Scrabble tile racks for chalk holders.

I added some words with my Silhouette SD.

I used gorilla glue (2)

I used Gorilla Glue to affix the chalk holder.

My mind gets so jumbled, that if I don’t write stuff down I forget what I’m supposed to do. I’m really hoping that this will keep me a lot more organized.  I haven’t conditioned it with chalk yet, I’m waiting for it to cure first.  In a few days, I’m sure there will be stuff written all over this chalkboard!

You can see that I put the hardware back on (after I painted it black).

What cha think?  Don’t you wish YOU had junk laying around like I do?  Ohh, what’s that?  You do?

I really like that idea and the way you did it. I also went and looked at your floor painting project and kitchen. I too painted my white cabinets, and what a difference! Your house is a beauty and I'm so happy to know that you did it. It sure gives the rest of us hope for ourselves AND great ideas :D

The Scrabble tile holder as a chalk holder is pretty genius! Of course the entire project is amazing but I so love that idea :0)

Awesome! You're truly an artist!! You should start a little side blog where people can send pics of their own junk (I'm first in line) and ask what you would suggest to make it into something lovely! :)
I have this huge, square bamboo/wicker coffee table I got from the thrift store...but it needs a makeover in the worst way... *sigh* LOL

I love it! Especially the size of it, you can really see what you write and not have to have your glasses on :) I love the font you used for the titles on it, cute.

Excellent timing with this as I'm going to be doing a similar thing to my son's (though the other will probably request it too) bedroom door. I like the idea of the scrabble tile holders for the chalk, especially since I have some extras laying around! Though it might fly off with kiddos slamming door, so I'll have to mull that part over :) Maybe on a wall next to the door, hmm.
