If you have a minute could you please vote for my Fireplace Makeover, Candlesticks & More, and my DIY Kitchen Island/bar. You will need to create a profile at ReadyMade, but it’s very simple. I would really appreciate your support. Only one vote per computer per day. (hint hint) You can vote again tomorrow if you want. I don’t expect to win, but I would love it if one of my projects could get a mention in the ReadyMade magazine next Spring. Voting ends December 14, 2010. Thanks!

I wash thinking of a way to make a large wall clock without having to cut a huge round piece of wood, this is an awesome idea! All you need is to put a small motor behind it (pretty cheap actually) and you got a non-fuax clock!
I’m glad you found my faux clock post! I ended up selling this as a coffee table. The lady who bought it really loved it.

Hi... just wanted to give a suggestion: you should consider changing the light and outlet plugins (from off white to white?)... they stick out like a sore thumb! Otherwise, YOUR KITCHEN TOTALLY ROCKS AND YOU DID A GREAT JOB. I was unsure of the blue color when you announced it but IT LOOKS WONDERFUL, CLEAN, AND UNIFIED!
I have it on my list. I changed out the plugs, but somehow forgot to buy a couple of covers! I haven't been out to get any, but as soon as they come in the door, they will go up. I promise! You have a good eye!
Thanks so much, I'm glad the blue didn't disappoint you!

Thanks for the "painting the hinge" article. I ran into the same problem while re-doing my Bathroom vanity, and I was not about to pay $3+dollars for each new one to match my thrift store knobs, but was hesitant about painting them(especially since I had just stripped off the paint that the former owners of the house had slopped on! )
I appreciate the inspiration you offer each post!
Thanks so much for writing.
It's unbelievable how much hardware costs these days. I think spray paint works a lot better for hinges (thinly applied).
How I Painted My Kitchen Floor (Monday’s Post)
Gail, this is insanely incredible! You really need to get this published in a one of the DIY magazines! Trust me it is nicer than some of the projects they ever publish. I will keep my eyes open for all and any contests for DIY kitchen makeovers because this is a definite winner!
are you kidding me?!
That's freaking amazing!
who knew you could even do that?!
I'm so impressed.
Your kitchen is so adorable and classic looking now. You should be SO proud!!
This is me giving you a STANDING OVATION!! Wow, amazing and beautiful and gorgeous and incredible and WOW!! Love love love that floor.
Wow, what a big change! You might want to look into appliance paint to get a true white on the stove. For the backsplash, I think blue glass tiles in different shades would be great...wonder what junking stuff could substitute? marbles? broken glass chunks?
That looks amazing! Your whole kitchen has turned out so well.
Congratulations on becoming a resident blogger! They're lucky to have someone as talented as you.
so awesome, I really admire you and your creativity! Your blog is on top of my "must read" list...
Fabulous job, Gail!! I love the grey and blue and white. My favorite decor colours. You should be so proud of yourself for making such a dramatic change.
Ladies, you’re very kind with your comments. I’m amazed at how many comments I had on this post. I appreciate all of your kindness and suggestions along the way with this kitchen makeover. I am happy to report that the floor is holding up fine. In the last couple of weeks it has gone through a lot of traffic and abuse. So far, so good. I expect that it is going to withstand whatever is to come, as it cures, it will be even more durable. FYI I did not seal it. I have decided not to seal it. As it is now, if there should be some little mishap, I can simply touch it up. I am very pleased with Mythic Paint!
Kitchen Accessories/Krylon Paint (Tuesday’s Post)
Wow, I've never seen Looking glass spray paint. Putting hair in pony tail and running to LOwe's :) I love the way your knife stand turned out. That's awesome stuff!
Hey, if you make me a window cabinet... I'll decorate your house for Christmas, haha!
Take care, Gail!
Michelle, I hope you got your paint! FYI, I left a comment on Michelle’s blog about not wanting to decorate for Christmas, hence the deal she’s making me.
Your new stainless steel items look GREAT! I heart all things stainless and I'm just itching to know how your appliances work out!
Cammy, currently I’m so tired of working on the kitchen, and I still have tons of work left. Maybe after the first of the year I’ll be ready to tackle the appliances.
oh please oh please do a project with the stained glass paint. I am really curious to see what this can do!
Amber, I don’t have any, but it certainly on my list of things to try!
Less is More Christmas Mantel (Tuesday’s Post)
I love the punches of red on your mantle and your kitchen window. Red is so festive isn't it?
I love your mantle, it's festive and very pretty. I love the red and silver combination, I think you did a fabulous job.
Just gorgeous the pops of red are fabulous and make the look festive and chic. You are a super-star!
Festive indeed! I really wasn’t in the mood to decorate, but I must say I have enjoyed glancing up at the mantel this week.
I Love Home Depot (Wednesday’s Post)
Most favorite because they remind me of a spring day
1. Sea Glass
2. Aegean Blue
least favorite
12. Sharkey Gray
they remind me of pants i had to wear at a fast food place... colors like this always made me feel naked. i always wear dark pants now..i know they show up. hahaha
Love all the colors, but as I was looking at them before you said what your favorites were, I said to myself, wow, I like that okra color! lol! I'm drawn to greens and that color is the same color my very first car was...a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger in the most beautiful green color I ever saw! It was 8 years old when I bought it for $400 and I was so proud of it. So funny how a color can take you back in time, isn't it?
My least favorite is the Haystack, because like Denise, I also worked at a fast food place as a teen, and we got to wear awful golden yellow polyester pants as our uniform. Ugh! I always felt so fat in those things. That color will forever be banned from my closet!
Come ON! What a deal...I must admit, I'm jealous!!! Great work.
As for colors, I've ALWAYS loved blues. When we first got married, my husband looked in our newly joined closet and said "all you own is blue...let's try to get a little more color in there!". LOL! As for my least fave? Yellow. Yellow makes me look like I Have the stomach flu. And as for decor, I find yellow hard to get "right".
Now that is my kind of a deal... I love these comments... I am that way with smells more than colour.
I am not a pastel colour person so all the ones in the first bunch are out for me.
Love the deeper colours, the Barn and the greens are my favourite... it has to be a "dirty" colour before it makes it's way into my space.
I am so jealous! I hope they offer more deals like this. I would have snatched it right up too. Are they open for anyone? Or just one person? I love the sea glass color. I would have to say the color that bugs me most is a maroon color. It was the color of my school uniform as a child and now it just bugs me. Mostly to wear it!
OOooh! I love those colors together!
You made me laugh about something your mom made you wear. YES! She made me wear purple and red together all the time. I still hate it!
Yes I was made to wear a old long dark blue flowered dress ....I don't like dark blue at all...I really never thought about why until I read your post. My favorite is the okra I like greens.I haven't ordered any thing from csn yet. Trish
Thanks to all who shared the “color” stories, I really enjoyed them. The deals at Home Depot on FB are for as long as supplies last. On this deal it was for first 200.
I Painted the Hinges (Thursday’s Post)
Love the hinges - they look amazing!! But you really should put a warning up for people reading as they are still opening their eyes - the paint spill nearly made me fall out of my chair!!! I'm awake now! I'm so sorry that happened to your pretty new floor - but it sounds like you got it cleaned up - whew!!!

I think the hinges look really nice. I never would have thought of using a metal paint. I always paint my hinges the same as the cupboard and my husband goes crazy. He tried to move metal shelves with the paint cans on it and I don't have to tell you what happened.

Oh Gail... I just let out a huge gasp when I saw your oops... oh you poor thing, I would have fainted. Glad you got it all cleaned up thank goodness... hey there are always mats to hide sins too...lol
It is looking great... love the idea with the hinges, that was a huge savings.
Now you need to stop and enjoy it for awhile.
Have a great day... and no more oops, my heart can't take that much excitement in the morning...lol
Hugs, Deb
Popeye for sure...too funny!
OOPS! No need to cry over spilt paint! lol!
Funny on keeping the kritters out. I was painting once in the kitchen and the tray was on the counter with black paint in it and my cat Ebby knocked it off the counter! KERSPLASH!!!! Then she freaked out and jumped down into it!!! If that wasn't bad enough she RAN through the house covered in black paint. Oh my gosh it was a disaster.
Furthermore I couldn't figure out what to clean first. Her? Or the spilt paint so no more cats got into it. Or clear the black paint strewn through out the house. GEESH!
Ugh! It was a mess. But now that it's over it's a funny story!
Have a great day!
Carmen and the Primcats
I can't believe you ran to get the camera. I would have been running around like a chicken with his head cut off! That's what makes you the better blogger :)
The floor is certainly taking a beating this week. My vinyl floor was so old and I was so over it. This floor makes me think about everything I do. I built my island for the kitchen so I can craft. Now I’m afraid I’ll get paint on the floor etc.
Catch-as-catch-can Link party and Scotch Blue Giveaway (Friday’s Post)

The new link party-I don’t know how to see the most viewed links. I suppose I would have to figure it out through analytics or stats. I will feature my favorites next Friday. That’s going to be difficult! Lots of links, lots of great ideas and projects.
I hope you have a great weekend! If it’s cold where you are (or snowy) I hope you stay safe and warm!
