Bedroom Reveal

100_9423
Keeping it real!  I am embarrassed to show this picture, but it is a fact of life. I love working on projects, and I have to store them. Since Jamie rarely visits, her room has become my storage area.  When she  came home for our trip to Michigan, I had to clear out all of my many projects from her room. Where to put them?  My room!  After we got back from our trip, I got busy cleaning up my room.  This truly was the worst this room has EVER looked, and it will never look anything like this again!  I am purposely keeping the photo small so that it doesn’t overwhelm you.   :-)

100_9443
There!  That’s more like it!  Neat and tidy, but in  great need of a change!  See that cute bunny on my bed?  My sister made that for Jamie when she was a toddler.  Notice the old blinds, brown trim, orange tongue and groove, lack of baseboard on the wall and a headboard that is dark and too tall.  Although I have always liked this comforter, it is king size on a queen bed. (I got it  on clearance over 5 years ago). Definitely time for a change!

100_9444
This is the corner that was all piled up with all my projects.

100_9447
I’m sorry for the poor picture quality. By the time I uploaded the pics, my room was empty and I couldn’t take anymore pictures.

100_9481
This bride doll belonged to my mom’s sister, Aunt Polly, as did the cedar chest.  My mom’s other sister Aunt Jean, designed and sewed the dress.  It is a replica of my vintage 1970’s wedding dress.  My mom’s other  sister is my Aunt Dot, she is the one who won a cruise and invited me to tag along.  I love family!

100_9451
I have the dreaded mirror closet doors that everyone dislikes.  This view shows you the whole room. That’s me hiding over there behind the door!  :)  The room was neat and tidy, I was not!

100_9555
Here, I am trying out the headboard in different places. In this corner, it would protrude too far out into the room.

100_9557
In front of the window, not sure I’m liking it at this point.

100_9558
On the wall where the door is, sort of behind the door.  Jamie’s not liking this option at all!

100_9623
I decide that the best place is in front of the window.  I sort of fooled you with the bedding.  I had bought this quilt from Target, but decided I didn’t like it, so I took it back.

100_9719
Are you still with me, or have you quickly scrolled through the pictures?  If you’re not reading, it’s totally OKAY, I’m a picture girl myself!  Real life getting in the way again, there on the right, do you see it?  Yep!  I must have a tv in my room. It’s really not as close as it looks, because I sleep on the side of the bed nearest the nightstand.  The fella that shares my bed sleeps on the side nearest the tv.  He’s quite the bed hog.

100_7109
This would be the bed hog!

100_9729
On with the show.  Window treatments.  I know they’re not anything all that special, but I can’t have curtains because of these kittos .  .  .  .

100_5507Look!  Miss Kitty on the left, Matthew Dillon on the right, Louie in the middle!  (and a tape measure on the couch, hahah)

100_9739
So, as I was saying, I can’t have curtains.

100_9747
Have you gotten a good feel for the layout of the room?  This is the corner that was so messy in the first picture.

100_9838
You can see that this picture was before I changed the frame layout.

Enough talking!  Just enjoy the rest of the pictures.  I know I am enjoying my new room soooo much!

Candle-less sconces.    ;-)    It’s funny, I update things, but forget to take the pictures!

100_9977
Voila!  Candles!

100_9966
Look!  A lamp!

I know it’s very feminine, but that is exactly what I wanted. I’m sure I will be tweaking it for awhile.  I will keep you posted when I make changes.  Over the next few days, I will go into a little more depth about the details. (You can click on linkwithin below to see details of the room)
Stop back by later today for another giveaway announcement.  Thanks for all the comments and wonderful ideas about the tote bags!

I hear you about the animals thing. If you only knew how many decisions I have to make around my dog's needs.

Great job Gail! Everything looks so soft and feminine and I love all the added sentimental touches to the room. I just might borrow your idea for the headboard for my son's room. By the way, I'm glad you found the two-pack of drop cloths, it's a sweet deal! :)

It is very, very pretty. Just two questions:

1) where is the bride doll? She'd fit in beautifully.

2) Do you have to lay on your side to watch television?

P.S. Love the second frame arrangement...it definitely finishes it all.

Beth said...

I love it! Good job.

What a nice, crisp change! Lovely colors and added touches. Just not sure I could watch TV that close to me! Looks like there are lots of good memories in there with you.

Wow! It turned out great Gail! Now could you head over here and do my bedroom? LOL It is the most neglected room in the house. How sad is that! I also have "projects" stacked in my bedroom. Oh, the ugliness of it all!

It's lovely. I love the beadboard wall and the white frames.. and what really got me was the photo of the two cats and the dog on the sofa back looking out the window. I would have to turn my sofa around to the sliding glass door to the back deck and be able to take an almost identical photo! I have a long haired black and white kitty..same pattern as yours but with a bit more white, a black and white short haired kitty just like yours and a schnauzer in 'winter fur' just like your pup.. same color.. Sugar baby aka Angel the long hair, Little Man, the short hair and Freeway the Schnauzer! :)
