I thought you might be interested in seeing my favorite place to shop. We have several of these Peddler's Malls all over Louisville. This one is located in a former hardware store. I'm going to give you a little tour.

This is the front of the store. I'm sure you are all aware of how these malls work, but I will explain it briefly. Each booth is assigned a number, there is a central checkout location. The cashier rings up your purchase assigning your money to the proper vendor.
There are many booths with glassware, some are much cheaper than others. This is one of the more expensive booths.
There are also several booths with socks, socks, socks!

Here, you can see that it is listed for $30.00

This chair was $14 and some change.
Some vendors keep their booths neat, others do not.

Vintage baby buggy, $40.00
There are a couple of booths that have primitives.

Two piece sofa set (?) for $44.45.

A nice old chest for under $60.00.
This booth has very random things, some old tools, and household items, in the foreground, golf balls!
I took this picture to show the variety of things you can buy, a couple of beds, sinks, tires, and appliances.
I thought this was a good price on this vanity $20.00.

This is the only thing I bought, a set of 5 spindles for $2.00.
Some very inexpensive saucers from Joey's booth. Most of them are .96 Joey's booth # is 396 and all of his prices in in 96
Lots of figurines and cups waiting for a new home (Joey's booth)
This is another booth that belongs to Joey, it is behind the back wall. A huge back room with lots of junk!
Another view of Joeys back room booth.

This cute little piece was sort of standing all alone in it's booth.

So, my friends, that is your grand tour of my favorite place to shop. Most of these vendors buy their good from auctions. Many of the auctions are from storage units, that are foreclosed on due to nonpayment. I have seen many sad things in my wanderings...children's pictures still in frames, nice pottery plates with birth announcements on them, very sad. I can't help but wonder about the homes some of these wonderful items have come from, ohhh the stories they could tell! I can't help but get a little nostalgic when I see vintage items.
I am linking to Rhoda's site, check it out!

we don't have anything like that around here, sure wish we did! What a treasure chest that is :~)
*hugs*deb
What a cool place to shop. We don't have any of those in our town, but would love to visit one. So I suppose you can't barter or get them to lowe the price huh? I think I would spend most my time at Joey's booth...lol.
Please stop by and say hi.
Be Well!
Cool!! Can we come shopping with you?? We have lost, to the recession, most of our mall type places. I miss them...the only one left is a true antique mall with true antique prices...drool, but can't often buy, you know? I'd love to open a spot like this w/ my BF Steph...she has an eye for the goodies, and we both love the hunt...just no $$ to accomplish the dream...I have 2 names picked out already...not alphabetically correct, but one would be Steph 'n E's...the other {thanks Joe} StephElainous Stuff. Too funny...now if we could just hit that 22 mil on Lotto this Wed...yeah right, and I believe that pigs can fly! :o} Have a great week *elaine*
Very nice, tour...thank you ! I would be there for a very long time - super long at Joey's too !

If I had a place like that around here, I would haunt it! Looks like there are some bargains and treasures to be found.

A fun tour of your favorite place to shop (it would be mine too)...we have a couple of places like that where I live. I get there when I can...I just know I need a lot of time set aside to get through the place.
We actually we don't have any of those stores here!! Boy we are missing out..Thanks so much for taking us on a tour! Looks like lots of treasures to be found.
XO

Thanks for the tour :) It curbs my thrifting appetite when I can read about others' finds!
We do have year-round indoor flea markets up here in Ohio, but most times they're just a lot of new stuff/junk, not cool old stuff that I look for when out thrifting.
I do remember though, visiting my grandma in Burnside, KY when I was little, and we went to the "mall." I was expecting Sears, Macys, etc. but a peddler's mall was what we got! My mom did not shop second hand, so that was all new to me!
